Ok just taken my carbs off my kat 1000 main jets are 95 which is standard .Im running a harris pipe so shouldn,t the carbs have been jetted up 1 or 2 sizes

stick some 100# in and you wont be far off with the jetting.When you clean the carbs make sure you blow through the float bowls too as the choke operates by drawing fuel from the float bowls ...............so if the drillings are blocked it'll be hard to start!
If you have to disturb the fuel metering screws ( under front side of carbs) make sure you are very careful you dont over tighten them, as they are very fragile and not a suzuki spare part.

Those fuel metering screws are they supposed to be tightened till they stop gently ,because mine weren,t tightened down some needed 1 more turn to stop all the others were different 3/4, 1 and1/2 turns etc .So I,ve had mains out ,the emulsion tube they fit into ,the pilot jet (fuel metering screw ? long and tapered to a point ).
Cleaned them all with carb cleaner then petrol ,made sure the long tube from the body was unblocked .I did the drilling in the float bowl that cme out into the base but Ill redo them now you have told me what they are for.
Had the main air jets out ,well three ,some ones buggered the other but it looks like it flows air thankfully.Anything else I should look at because its a bugger to get carbs off.
Must go now and get fresh air garage and house stink of petrol.Tomorrow ill check valve clearances

The fuel metering screws are factory set and there is no standard figure for how many turns out they should be set at.....so if you didnt write down exactly where they were set at ........you'll have to play around with them. Thinking back to when i did my carbs ...mine were all slightly different...........some were 1 1/4 turns out and some 1 1/8 turns out. Dont over tighten them or they will snap off in the carb bodys.........so be very gentle.Remove them from the carbs and check thjat they are not damaged and that the O ring is in good condition, then Screw them in until you feel very slight resistance and then back them out 1 1/8 - 1 1/4 turns.

Dont forget to set your float heights whilst you are at it 22.4mm +/- 1mm.

You'll probably need to balance the carbs once you,ve re-fitted them!

I checked with Norman Hyde on jet sizes he advised that on road baffles standard jets (95) are correct. Just to check those fuel metering screws they are located on the front of the float bowl and are tappered about 3/4 inch long.See pics below

wind them all the way in, and then wind them back out 1 1/2 turns, some need more some less, depends on exhaust and air filter, but also engine tune and carb wear.
