How to tell the spec and if an import
Hi guys,
I am going to upload a pic of my bike and would like to know if you guys can tell what spec the bike is ie, UK or JAp import. I have been asked on insurance sites if it is and it's some thing I can't answer right now. I believe it's a UK spec bike due to the V5 showing registered 03/09/1983 but ask the experts is the way forward.

If it says first registered 1983 then it's Not a uk bike, it's "grey import" that date would put it on an "A" plate.
Uk bikes were on C or D plates. If it's uk then on the log book it'll say "new at first registration"
as an import It'll be the same spec as most of the officially imported ones.

uk bikes iirc didnt have the rear indicators faired into the tail unit, something to do with uk lighting regs at the time, but fossie is the man to ask about pop ups and their many variants.

Yeah Fossie knows his stuff about the popup John, but so do I !. There's more than one who knows whats what
2 types came here as official imports, the majority were Jap spec and had the faired in rear indicators
The other type had them on stalks, these were Aus/NZ/SA spec and only a few of these arrived here, these also had no sticker on the clocks whereas the Jap spec ones had a mph overlay stuck on by heron suzuki upon arrival.
There's a fair few other differences but no need to go into it all now

Re: How to tell the spec and if an import
I am confused, not by your replies which I am very greatful for but the log book. First it states on line B that "date of first registration" was 03/09/1993
Then on line B.1 it states "Date of first registration in the UK" 03/09/1993
however the bike is on a "C" plate and there are no other mention to the date of manufacur other than the pre fix letter "C".

When it was imported the person who did the paperwork for registering had to fill out the year of manufacture, they filled in 1986 therefore it was put on an age related "c" plate

Thanks people, I see in my first post that I wrote 1983 as I had read it wrong in the first place, sorry.
I brought the girl home tonight with a massive grin on my face and am looking forward to the next outing. I will hunt for a manual for her and any info I can gather, should I search s-3 or e model when looking for a manual?
