I have some front discs with minimal wear, but that need tidying up. (USD gsxr1100)

How easy is it to refurb them - ie remove bobbins, powdercoat centres, then rebuild?

Alternatively, anyone know of a firm that does it?

you can get sets of bobbins, but theyre about 50 quid a set.

I don't think there's ought wrong with the bobbins, although a couple of the shims need replacing. Is there any reason why I should buy new ones?

I rebuilt my hayabusa discs as the springs/shims had broken but the discs and carriers were perfect. I used a set of brembo bobbins/shims/clips which are the same size as the suzuki ones. I used them for a year or so but they are really intended for race bikes not road bikes and i did find that the odd clip would not last too well.
Its also a bitch of a job to remove the old bobbins as they are very hard and will spin when you try to drill them out, I used my milling machine but it was still a pain.

I decided it was better to bite the bullet and get some new ones in the end.

I still have the bobbins etc here if they are of use.

Thanks Russbusa. I've come to the same conclusion. I'm such a slow builder that I've plenty of time to wait for a bargain... or I could not be such a tart and use the perfectly usable ones I already have of course!
