Hi all, I have stripped down my front forks, pictures below on link. The anti dive mech, one side the plunger is free the other gets sticky. What is the recommendation as I hear that you can't rebuild them? is this so? Also with the forks apart from the main seals should the O ring, pictured, and the split bush at the bottom of the stanchions be replaced as well. Help much appreciated. Chhers, Adam

It recommends that you replace the bush everytime you take the forks appart however I haven't on mine and it works fine, you could always price up and make your decision from there.
As for the anti dive you might be better off posting a wanted item.
The "O" ring is cheap as chips from Suzuki and thats a no brainer.

replace the circlips in the anti dive units with stainless steel circlips, and give em all a spray with acf 50 before re assembly.

Thanks for the advice, I shall try the circlip and bush replacement path, the exterior finish is that more of a light gold colour as opposed to the silver of the legs?

I completely stripped all mine down and cleaned and greased all the componenets with aero-spec grease.

I actually had to build 2 good anti-dive units from 4 that I had.

If you do rebuild them, I would also recommend you soak the plunger seals in some clean brake fluid for a short while before you rebuild them.

And as johnr has already said replace the top circlips with some new ones.............or coat the old ones with some anti-seize grease!

Cheers bobster for the tips, I only have the one set from my bike so would you recommend leaving undisturbed apart from the circlip and cleaning up ?

All depends if theyre seized or not...remove them from the forks and see if the plunger is still moving when you operate the front brake........it should push the plunger out!

should have done that before dismantling the front brakes, I will re-assemble those first and try the simple test you have suggested. I am fairly confident that it is all still working just a little stcicky on one side.

If i were you I'd just strip them anyway whilst you've got this far...............saves you doing it when everythings back together and............and you find theyre seized!

Do them now and then theyre done and dusted and you've ticked the box........
