Ignition help please

I have a fault with my ignition that I hope someone can help me with.
I think it's the igniter unit but not 100% sure as I have no spark what so ever.

Last night I replaced the rear wheel bearings and serviced the rear caliper, I needed the bike for today as I was in a funeral procession so made sure it started and once I was happy that it was warm turned it off but this time(and the only time I have ever done it) I used the kill switch. This morning nothing, I thought flooding so left it for a while. I then removed the plugs and found no spark.
I also noticed that every time I flicked the kill switch that the rev counter would also flicker, I have stopped this by removing the coil packs and cleaned the earths as the holes were covered in paint.

I have checked my earths, main fuse and fuses and as far as I can see no issues, the bike only had one earth and that went straight from the battery to the clutch side casing bolt, I have now fitted another from engine to frame. I have checked the coil packs and across them I get a reading of 23.8 and 26.3 represectively. I also checked the signal generator and starter relay and they are fine.

The "other thing" but it might just be me is that the bike doesn't turn over with the kill switch in the off position yet all my other bikes turned over in this position and just killed the ignition. Is this the case or am I just tired?

Does your bike have a sidestand switch ?

Maybe you need to have a look at the kill switch. Might be stuck on.

Disconnect and join the 2 orange wires in the kill switch together . They shouldn't be fitted to motorbikes , they just collect water and turn to crub cauing this problem..
Suzuki kill switches kill power to coils , Hond* kill power to ignitor.

Thanks for the info but any idea or history on the fault that my bike has?
Is it common for an igniter unit to fail?

igniter unit failure isn't common. more likely that silly kill switch.

I think I'd go along with Fossie.

As you said, it only occurred after you had used the Kill Switch.

Back in the day when I was a skint student, I had hair  and a Plastic Maggot :o that was utterly reliable. Untill one day it just failed to start.

Before it got hurled into the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, I found that the Kill Switch, that never got used, had corrossion on the contacts was the cause of the problem.
