disk bolt locks

Was putting the disks back on my nice clean wheels and was wondering if you could get away with not using the bolt lock tab things. Not the prettiest bit of kit especially after they have been bent a few times. Could you not just use lock washers or something ?

Well......yes you can go without but they're there for a reason and at about 12quid for 6 I'd get 'em. HOWEVER........Later bikes don't use them but, then again, you're supposed to use threadlock.
Not sure of MOT status for lock tabs.

Locktite would do as well. Just be careful to degrease both hole and bolt.

Bugger, just put a load of cooper grease down the holes !! Maybe get some new ones then.

So you've greased the retaining bolt holes so they'll come out easier...........
I'd just buy some nice new ones..............theyr not that expensive!

I would be tempted to run with the lock-washers as a disc bolt coming loose would be a bit of a Heart Stopping moment if you get my drift.
As my current Platform Manager admitted on his CBR600, he replaced the rear disc, and the bolts with shiny Cap Heads. Great until the the rear wheel locked up at speed........
Alternatively try some Nord-Lock washers, but I think they'd be about a fiver a time
