Whats the mot requirement for a bikes speedometer ? does it have to read mph or can you get away with some stickers stuck on it for mph ?

Just googled it Pete (come on you could do that too

) and for CARS if you're running British plates etc then you have to have MPH readings. Soooo, assuming it's the same for bikes then stickers for 30,40,50 and 70MPH should be sufficient those being the common speed limits.

Thanks guys. Just double checked and speedo is not checked at a MOT test - but is is illegal not to have one. Not sure about the mph thing. But stuck some stickers on it just in case i ever ride it out the garage!!! Pre-emptive strike.

as you say, speedo isnt mot-able, so it matters not, you need a means of gauging speed, to compley with c+u regs, so i dont see why a kph one wont do it, just put stickers on to corespond with 30-40-50-60-70mph!

There is no legal requirement, in fact most of my bikes are mph less , I just see 50 as 30, 60 as 40 , 80 as 50, 100 as 60, and any thing over as time for mirror checking!
