Kat 1000/1100 tyre

Post by AndySwad » Wed Jul 04, 2012 4:59 pm

Why have we not got a technical reference 'sticky' section to stop me asking supid questions that have been posted before and because I'm too lazy to troll through loads of search pages.

Anyway current moan over, back to the question;

What is the maximum size, best size rear tyre to fit?
currently looking for 130 90 17
what else fits, whats recommended?
Can I go tubeless, just had a front fitted and tyre fittr said need inner tube because rim/ridge inside tyre not suitable, is this so and same for rear,I know you can enlage the valve hole.

Are you sure it's a Kat? Kat engine, Kat clocks, Kat wheels and forks? Mmm! It's not silver is it!

Make sure you stick to the 90 profile, 70 or 80 looks pish on a stock Kat, just my humble opinion

best size is likely the stock size as that is what the rim is designed for. no doubt a 140 would fit but you may need an 80 profile as not sure you can find a 140/90?

my "snowflake" rims don't have tubes in them.... and are fine.
