attaching needles to clocks

Post by sparki » Fri Feb 25, 2011 2:37 pm

my clocks have been in the wars a bit but due to the kindness of one particular member here i can stick em back together all nice n working once again....

one of the reasons they were opened in the first place was that the needles were knackered and needed replacing. i had an old set of GSX ET clocks in a box that had seen better days so popped the needles of those... thing is, the holes in them are a very SIMILAR size but not quite.. snug enough

so my question is.... the hole in the needle for the speedo is.... mmmmm not too bad but not really quite tight enough while the shaft for the rev counter is even thinner and the needle just slips straight on and doesn't touch the sides. does anyone have a suggestion for attaching them onto the shafts? i am not about to buy more and more sets of clocks that _might_ fit only to have the same issue... i guess i could always do some sort of repair to the ones i have but they're always going to look "repaired" i'd have thought and what would i use as "needles" to replace the snapped off bits with?

part of me wants to glue the things on and be done with it but then if i needed to open them up again in the future i'd never be able to remove em again... maybe blue locktite ..lol

so, any suggestions?

cheers
Steve

Ok... Appears as though you can crimp the lil tube thing on the needle that goes over the spindle thing sufficiently :)

These clocks are the bain of my life at the minute... Right, now face back on and crimp ;)
