Almost BLER .

BLER= beyond local economic repair.

This is where I'm at with the 400 at the moment -almost.

Got round to fitting the carbs as per previous post, but noticed the throttle cables are fraying , just a bit but don't want to do the job twice.
( that said the 250 needles fitted aren't right and so there is a flat spot, aargh. They are different part numbers,)

I've got impulse cables -------------2" too long!!!!

400 Kat cables discontinued !! So does anyone know someone who will fit new inners to my cables.

Dave (f3gsx ) did you get my pm ref carbs?
New needles £12.60 +vat each from Suzuki 3-6 weeks wait .
I can't have it hanging about that long and maybe she's time served now , time to retire .

I think by the sounds of it and..... by Fossie's very vague explanation , that its only the inner cable thats too long........ as 2" inches of an outer cable wouldnt be too much of a problem !

Solution 1: Cut 2" off inner cable and Fit / crimp / solder new nipple on the offending ends.

Any self respecting despatch rider, worth his salt should have a couple of solderless nipples in their tool kit, emergency kit! ;)

Solution 2: Lift / drop jet needles few clips to richen / weaken mixture.........until new needle come in the post!

Solution 3: Sell me the wreck for £10, delivered to my lockup ! ;)

cheers lads for the info , will try later.
bobster No I don't have solderless nipples in my kit as I stock cables. The oversize cables are 2" outer oversize so innner would be 3-4" over.

I can't imagine spending another £60 just for needles , this machine has cost a new set of brakes and brake pistons, Carb cleaning. I neither have the time or inclination to keep adjusting jets, possibly ripping carbs off again and again.

as for the cables ideally we need to find someone to make up the cables as we will need some for others later.

The jury is out but ...................

just out of interest fossie, as the emulsion tubes are different on the 250, if youve got the 250 needles and the 400 tubes then perhaps putting the 250 emulsion tubes and needles together might make an improvement?
