finally got my 750 kat mot'd and back on the road but when i got back from mot i noticed a couple of new problems , one i had blown the front fork seals out, not a big deal and have since replaced them, but the other issue was when i stopped i thought i could smell petrol when i looked there were drips of fluid coming out of the breather pipe which comes from the rocker cover this fluid was evaporating on the hot engine and i can only assume it was petrol because of the smell. as soon as i stopped the engine the drips stopped. i thought that this must be flooding carbs which were overflowing into engine but when i check the oil level it is still the same and doesnt look like there is petrol in there. i have since stripped the carbs and fuel tap and rebuilt but the problem is still there, anyone had this problem or something similar???.

If it coming from the vent on the rocker breather it can't be petrol, have you got trhe pipe from the rocker to the airbox in situ.

This pipe is to catch the hot air and vapours. It is possible that without this pipe the oil vapour drips down the back of the engine and mixes with any other residue that gets stuck by the starter motor cover.

hi Fossie, thats what i thought how can it be petrol when there is none in the sump but it definately smells like petrol, i dont have an airbox as it has k&n's on it im going out now to have a closer look

Fix a vent to the breather cover which leads the fluid either into a catch tank or onto the chain. There it'll be good for something at least.
Defo can't be fuel. There shouldn't be too much evaporating the cover though. If it does, check if you got the steal strainer sponge thingy beneath the breather cover. If you do and the vapour is still to much you should look into an engine overhaul.
