try sticking em above the yokes... plus the steering'll be a bit quicker too

According to the set up manual there is a set position for the clip ons
They are fixed below the top yoke butted up to the underneath of the top yoke.
The clamp is tightened up with even gaps at the joint.
And the gap between the two halves, closest to the handle bar end lines up with the slot in the top yoke that clamps the stantion in place.
Alternatively you can set them to suit yourself. The only MOT issues are that they are secure, and do not trap your thumb/hand on full lock, against the tank or bodywork.

if its not a pop up, a top yoke from a gs1000 will bolt onto the stock forks and bottom yoke allowing you to fit normal handlebars, not the shaft drive gs1000g though, they have different dimensions.

I have a pair of fork extensions for an 1100 if that's of any use, would allow mounting clip ins above yolk without altering steering geometry

Has anyone actually done the GS thou top yoke switch?
I have a yoke and while it fits the upper fork tubes it would need machining out another couple of mm and about 10mm deeper to be a comfy fit. Then there's the clock mountings to re-fabricate and alternative master cylinder/res to find.
Can you get away with original wiring and cables etc or do they have to be changed as well?
Unless i've got the wrong yoke lol (was assured it was from the non shaft thou)

ive a gs1000 top yoke onn mine. straight swap. if yours needs machining then i suspect that its not gs1000. it needs to be the chain drive gs1000, the shaft drive one has different dimensions because the 1000g forks have a leading axle.

I must have a yoke from another bike then. All holes line up correctly and it fits the fork tubes but the recess that drops onto the kat stem is 10mm too shallow and 2mm too narrow.
