Hi, Having taken the engine to pieces and believing the manual would be ok for the rebuild, I am now needing some advice on which nut type goes where on the cylinder head, and what type of washer goes under each type of nut. The manual only has plain nuts or dome nuts shown.

I have:

4 plain nuts (think these are the 4 external nuts, studs 5,6,7,8)
4 long spacers with a hex on top (think these are studs 9,10,11,12)
2 shorter spacer types with o-rings (think these are studs 1,3)
2 dome nuts (think these are studs 2,4)
2 bolts obviously these are the two external oles at each end of the head.

What type of washer goes under each type?

I know i should have taken some notes or pics

Regards Jack, having a crap weekend, my 1954 Triumph car has decided to milk its oil and when I went to ride my tiger the battery was flat. :x

Sorry I am a twat, should have just looked in the parts list.

But still could someone confirm the washers, as the parts list only shows plain washers under the 4 plain nuts and copper washers under the two dome nuts. No other washers shown, yet I have 6 copper and 2 plain ?

Cheers Jack

Copper washers are nothing but gaskets, so as a rule: where the stud nuts have also sealing purpose (under the cam cover) set them on the copper washers.

You can re-use your old copper washers by anealing them on the gas hob..........heat them up until they are cherry red and then quench them in the washing up bowl............use a piece of old coat hanger ( metal wire veriety) to dangle them over the flame!

jobs agood un!
