H ! . . turbo trouble !!!!!!!!!!!

H

When your turbo goes to full boost (assuming it does) does it smack your nuts against the tank or have i just got really big nuts ????

I put all the exhaust back on as you know and have WAY WAY more boost than ever I got before, the problem is its going over boost and the ecu cutting the injectors hence the bruised nads ! I'm thinking my wastegate is stuck shut and is not bleeding off the pressure hence the safety cutout at 12psi boost. I'll have to have a fiddle with it I think, just wondered if you had ever had the same problem ?

had a prob like that before i took of the "overboost" gizmo that idiot who sold it me had fitted

was like pogoing down the road,

full boost, ecu cuts in, full boost ecu cuts in etc etc etc (had steve in stiches i think when we went for ride out after netley the other year)

has the turbo been taken off it at any time, from memory manual says something about

"not holding turbo unit by wastegate rod as it may bend it"

just a thought

other thgan that, is their maybe a diaphraghnm in wastegate unit that may be split etc causing it to bleed out rather than trigger wastegate

need more detail give me a bell

Yep just been looking in the Suzi manual, siezed pivot, split rubber pipe or diaphram. The turbo has prob been off at some time but was working fine when i got it albeit taking ages to build boost because the exhaust was blowing. I'll have a look tomorrow, its a simple set up really so no bother. Goes like hell until it cuts out !

Good news is that after 470 miles its not used or dripped a drop of oil :D and after sliding it up the grassy hill on friday it wasn't damaged either ! :D :D

sounds like the pipe/diaphragm,

the gizmo i mentioned basically bleed air to atmosphere to avoid wastegate cutting in

identical syptoms to those you mentioned so would go for "air leak" as first option

good luck

and yes it does hurt your nads

   :? :?

Sorted !

Wastegate stuck shut hence the amazing amount of boost :D then the injectors cutting at the 12psi limit

Simple job and all the bolts came out easily from the cast wastegate :D , a little bit of penetrating fluid and a bit of patience and all is well :D :D I think that whoever had this before me had a very delicate touch and an expensive torque wrench or a suzuki badge on his overalls :)

All apart ready for surgery

Look how small the turbo is compared to the sprocket

Turbo close up and the wastegate that was stuck

All back together ready for a test ride :P

I wish i'd taken up your offer of a test ride now Russ.............but knowing my luck i'd have left you with 2 bollock size dents in your tank!

But they'd only be tiny dents though! (I thought i'd get that in before H did) !

Really Nice bike Russ!

I still have to go and look at 1 near me............................an XN that is!
