Damaged ignition barrel on pop up

Post by payton6uk » Tue Sep 30, 2014 10:13 am

I've got a damaged ignition barrel on my 750S3, everything works and you can't pull out the key when its on so that's good but the top of the barrel looks like its been tampered with and damaged.
My question is has anyone been able to just replace the outer plastic on the barrel?
I'm quite keen to keep the barrel as I have one key that fits all

u could buy another ignition switch and get a lock smith to make your key fit it.
Its prob a common switch used on many bikes from the era.

The plastic casing will be the same as most period Suzuki and does come off BUT the SE ignition barrel is specific to this bike due to length of wires and number to switch.

Do not take a punt on the one on eBay it will not fit, there is no aftermarket barrel made, it is a generic switch. Though I may be completely wrong but never found one while worked in a parts dept .

Well up to you but the wire ain't long enough, and there is a wire missing , take your tank off, the connector is by the right coil along the frame rail, then check for yourself .

Thanks Flossie... :) will have a look at the weekend.. I'll bow to superior knowledge... my experience stops at GSX550es (katana wannabe)

I don't know what I'd do without you and the other members.....I'd defiantly be poorer and none the wiser
