Fork Springs - Which way up

Do the fork springs have the tighter coils at the top or the bottom when reassembling?
I forgot it's been so long!

Pretty sure they were tight wound at the top.
Just Googled to see what the web says and the web says:
- Definately tight at top
- Definately tight at the bottom
- It definately doesn't matter!
Don't you just love Googling things.

One of the Pride articles I did was swapping out the springs for progressive rate ones. According to the Hagon instructions: Tight coils to the top

Just had a set of Hagon 'road' shocks made slightly longer eye to Clevis for my winter updates. Made up by Dave at Hagon and delivered today. Tighter springs at bottom
. So it does seem with all the different advise we seem to be getting...it really doesn't matter.

Rear shocks may well be different to the front forks

In the FSM (for the 750 though) it says tight coils to the top...

seem to remember (in dim and distant past) fitting progressive fork springs on the gs, they were tight at the top
If my logic serves me right that means smaller bumps are evened out by the wider bits and as they compress harder bumps are resisted by the tighter coils giving an ultimately smoother more even suspension action

Are the 1100 Progressive as standard? I just have what mine came with which is tighter at one end.
I put them in tight at top, for reference.
