I've got the paraffin and the zippo ready, but before it gets a Viking funeral I'll give it one more chance. The book says 150 psi. The reading says just under 50psi. This heap has fought me at every stage of the restore'n. Advice on my options will be greatly appreciated.

50
You sure the tester works John? try it on a known good one first.
If your only getting 50 i would start by sticking a few squirts of oil down the plug and then see what that does.

It's an S1 that has been stool for a week with a mixture of oil and petrol in the top of the cylinders. Admittingly I've only tested it with a hand held car comp tester, but I thought it would be a bit higher. I'll take it to a bike shop for a professional check but I'm not confident. Do you think I'll get away with a set of rings or look for another engine. I've put too much into it to walk away nor. Cheers John.
