who wanted a lighter clutch?
theres been a few posts in recent years wondering about making the clutch lighter on the 1100 kat, many of them were lost when the forum fell over, but there were various ideas about making up hydraulic conversions or attempting to find the unfindable (final edition electric servo clutch) anyhow, ive just found these. theyre hydraulic convertors for cable clutches and screw into the place where the lower cable adjuster bolt/screw lives, for the price theyre listed at, ive ordered one to see how they fit, what do you think?

Re: who wanted a lighter clutch?
Should it work then it would eliminate all the friction generated by routing cables round bends etc making it smoother as well as lighter. No more lubricating or frayed cables.

and depending on the bore of the master cylinder, this has the potential to make for a very light clutch indeed.
ive ordered a black and a silver one.

Re: who wanted a lighter clutch?
Very interesting, my problem is my S2 has aftermarket jap bars on so cables are a novel one.
Just a few months ago I noticed a fraying cable, so fitted my spare.
I was thinking about get some bespoke ones made up . This would eliminate many issues .
Let us know Johnr ......or we could use mine as a template if yours aren't ready....wink wink!

Re: who wanted a lighter clutch?
cheap as chips if it works! Have been thinking of trying a full hydraulic clutch conversion but as usual, not got round to it. I believe using a GSXR or similar set up with some sort of extra long rod set up can work. Cant remember where I saw that now. Think it was on OSS. Will wait to hear how your way goes

Re: who wanted a lighter clutch?
Look like a very neat solution. My only concern would be the quality of the components. but hey for £5.85 worth a go.

Re: who wanted a lighter clutch?
the idea of using a gsxr setup would depend on drilling a gear shaft to take the actuation rod, i read the oss thread and its interesting, i will have a look to see if i have any ready drilled capped off shafts. ive also got a dilema round a lockup clutch i just aquired, it requires an extended actuator from the cover to the inner basket to lift the clutch. but if i go for the gsxr idea, this part becomes unnecesary as well as. decisions decisions...

my thought exactly, just need to get the right size master cylinder for it.Nigelkat wrote:Look like a very neat solution. My only concern would be the quality of the components. but hey for £5.85 worth a go.

Re: who wanted a lighter clutch?
Forgive me here, but surely the rod can only move out then return, isn't that opposite to the Kats operation unless the arm is reversed.

Re: who wanted a lighter clutch?
the rod puls like the cable and is screwed into the threaded mounting on the top crankcase. operating the lever pulls it, not pushes.
