On my 1100 with 530 chain I had to use a 6mm spacer on the front sprocket so it would do up properly (JT part number JTF518B). Do you require the same?

Dug out my record of the work I did (for The Pride). From the images I would say that it was behind the sprocket (can't actually remember and bike still bagged up from winter). I used a new retaining nut which has metal tabs in it to lock it better and also a lock washer so really there is no way that should come undone.

The crinkle washer is actually a lock tab washer. The edge is meant to be folded on to the flat side of the large retaking nut. This design had a habit of unscrewing itself if the nut loosened. Forget to do that and it can be frustrating refitting the chain/ sprocket at th side of the road.!

Yep.! The real reason they came loose was the nut is blind for the start of the tread to go over end of out -put shaft, there was also a cushion on the original sprocket both sides to guide the chain over keeping it quiet. No one replaced these as the aftermarket sprocket companies don't do them. So when the new sprocket was fitted it went back a touch too far and the thread was weakened , so when you used he rear brake the chain tighten, the drive was still going forward ....once the nut was slightly loose it stayed still with chain and the shaft turned the threads, until it reached the blind end.....
Resulting in revs and no drive but damaged threads.

Hence the tab washer to stop nut from stating to work loose.
