HELP!

Post by PaulD » Mon Feb 12, 2018 2:51 pm

Following on from my “running rich” thread I’ve reassembled everything today and fired her up.
However, the bike isn’t running on cylinder no3 (3rd from the right as you sit on the bike) I’ve unscrewed the drain plug and there is fuel in the carb but as this one carb feeds the rest I thought there would be! I’ve got a good spark at the plug so it’s not that, the plug is dry so fuel is obviously not getting in. All the linkages are moving freely and the choke plungers are working as they should. As you can imagine I’m not keen on taking the carbs off again so anyone got any ideas? I’m hoping it’s summat simple (like me  )
There rubbish them Jap bikes lad they won't last five minutes! you want to get yourself a nice Royal Enfield!

Well one was a bit “floppy” compared to the others but i never noticed any holes/tears etc but it was running even though it was rich before and surely it would still tickover even if it was damaged?

Blocked pilot jet? Did you remove needles and place in wrong groove? HT leads back in wrong order?

Clutching at straws :)

Right well first of all thanks for the replies, now I’m not sure if it was just a fluke but I whipped the tank off and just to be 100% sure I checked the diaphragm on the offending cylinder, apart from it being a bit “floppy” as I mentioned before there are no tears or holes in it so I put that back together. I then noticed the breather pipe looked to be crushed against the frame from putting the plenum chamber back in? sucking it showed it to be clear so I’ve re-routed it. I put everything back and lo & behold all is well! Now whether it was the breather or something else I’ve dusturbed I’m not sure but the problem has gone. She seems to be hanging onto revs a bit when I blip the throttle so the air screw will need a tweak and I’ll have to balance the carbs but I think I’ve cured the rich running problem.
