Hi,

Been a while as i had issues logging on....anyway, sorted now !
I bought 2 new old stock original exhausts for my GS550 M Katana.
When they arrived, i noticed the left hand exhaust did not fit in the manifold...right hand side fine with approx 36mm OD, but the left one has 41mm OD so wont fit in the manifold at cyl head.
All the lengths and IDs are the same, apart form first inch of ID, correct one is 26mm, but the wrong size left hand exhaust first inch has 30mm ID, then it reduces to exact same size as the right exhaust.
It appears this one was either made for oversize manifold inlet, (dont see how thats possible though) or its off a GS650 ?

Greatly appreciate any expert advice...i was thinking of grinding the OD down in order it will fit, hopefully the first inch of oversize by 4mm wont cause too much imballance, otherwise i have to sell it on and look for another.

All i really want to know, is if anyone knows what this exhaust could be off - i.e. GS650, or if oversized for some reason ?

If it is the same length and looks like the 550 one but the bore is larger it will be from 650 Kat.
Grinding down will get it to fit in the port outlet , but the performance will be altered , maybe only low end tick over and balancing.
Probably easier to find a 550 part system and move this one on.

The ID of the bore is 4mm larger for the first 20mm, then the diameter reduces to exactly the same as the 550 exhaust....that is the only difference with the ID.
Do you still think that could be for 650 ?
