Great news!

Well I’ve finally got my arris in gear and stripped the top end of the motor and it looks to me like the previous owner was telling the truth and has fitted four new pistons & rings 8-) there is no blow by marks front or back and the rings look as new. I haven’t measured the bores yet but they look good with no scoring and no wear ring at tdc. The camchain tensioner looks new as does the chain (well within limits)
So now it’s a matter of cleaning everything up and re-assembling and I should be good to go ;)
One small thing troubling me is do I fit my shiny new Cruzin Image rings or leave the current ones in place?
Your thoughts please guys.

Mmm good spot, I’ll clean the head and barrel surfaces off and put the straight edge across it to see if there is owt amiss. I’ve got a genuine Suzuki head gasket to go on it so fingers crossed it will be ok?
One clue to the smoking on start up and knackered stem seals was the load of clean oil on the piston crowns when I lifted the head.

One and four where the worse for oil, no’s two and three seem to have been running very rich?

Fit the new Piston rings ..you've bought them and you have little faith in the previous chaps work......you gonna take the rings off anyway to make sure they are the right way and check bores
