Hi,
One of the 4 camshaft end caps on the engine is very loose, looking like it will fall off.
How are they held on? Is it an easy fix?
Thanks in advance.

The 650 cam caps caps are held on by screws that are hidden behind the caps. They need to be fitted to the camshaft cover when it is off the engine.
My old 550 had the traditional style caps that would disappear on a ride out along with a side panel

Yes, I'm afraid its the valve cover off, turn upside down, two screws per cover. A touch of loc-tight wouldn't go amiss. (voice of experience).

Thanks.
So the camshaft cover has to come off first? Groan...
I guess the screws must have come loose inside the cover from engine vibration.
Maybe I can put some kind of sealant/bonding material on as a temporary fix until the cylinder cover next comes off for a service.

A wedge of wood works best! There is no way to bond them as they sit on a lip of the cam cover with 2 short cross head M4 screws .
The wedge of wood makes it tight and stops the vibration.

On the 400 part list, the covers have a foam part behind them ( 47161-04A00 ) which I didn't bother with on the replacement one I needed (couldn't see why it was needed), but I guess they did that for the same reasons!
