Suzuki GS 650 Katana Rev Counter

Post by craik » Sun Dec 22, 2019 12:59 pm

Hi,
My 650 Katana is a Japanese import. The rev counter has a high beam and oil light on the fascia.
Are the UK and Japanese rev counters identical in this regard? Or the UK rev counter lacks any lights?
Thanks for any info.

It isn't because it's a jap import it is because it is GZ model . 83....A 550 83 model will be the same aswell, though now both difficult to source because nobody marks down Gx or GZ when stashing parts .
It may be easier just to acquire a 650 rev counter and swap the actual mechanism over , it is only held in by a couple of screws .......and the needle which pops off reasonably easily.

If this is the route you wish to progress along , then I feel I should be able to furnish a replacement tachometer for your progress . ( watching sense and sensibility . Well it's on the box of moving visuals and I feel that the act of changing channels will take too much effort.!..therefore proper olde English .)

Or if you don't mind white needles .

It does also have mph clocks although up to 80 mph.
You may also need to change the block connectors but not a biggy.

Ok so moved a few bikes ....they all started and ran and sat ticking over :D "you can't beat the smell of carbon monoxide in the morning :) "
BUT it turns out that although there are 3 speedos ....Speedometers ;) there is only 1 tachometer and if is for a GX...so would need to be dismantled anyway. With this in mind I feel I should keep hold of that Sorry .....but the law of sod is lend , sell your last item of something and the day after you will need it

Again sorry for a possible non captive fowl chase , but someone else must have a 550/ 650/ 750/ 850
Tachometer that is just waiting for transplant duties .

Well it's not a straight fit, but simply swapping over the internals is a relatively easy job, and at make an offer for £25 incl post would be palitable.
