GS 650 Katana Drive Shaft Oil Plug

I need to replace the Drive Shaft Oil Plug on the final drive gear which has become worn.
On my microfiches, it's part no 09247-14014.
I have found that the main oil drain plug under the engine 09247-16002 and the engine gear oil drain plug 09247-14001, although they have different part numbers, are in fact interchangeable ie they are the same part.
Is the same true for the Drive Shaft Oil Plug 09247-14014 ie can I use the main oil drain plug 09247-16002 to replace it, one of which I happen to have spare?
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks in advance.

I'd say measure the thread length and see if it fits. Make sure it's magnetic because the final drives can shed some metal.

You will notice the first part of part number is the same ..because it is a drain plug.
So yes you can use either. The difference between the drain plugs on the engine and gearbox is the magnet as said above.
The diff one has a magnet also , but again as said measure the length , as the diff gears may intrude on the end of the magnet when fitted.
Suzuki wouldn't change the part if it wasn't nessecary .... Though that could be just a finish thing ie: chromed etc ...but as drain plugs are not usually cosmetically considered I would go with it'll do if the length is ok.

Thanks all. In the end, I got the old worn plug off and tried to fit a main oil drain plug. However, I couldn't get it to fit, it seemed to be too big. So I guess they are different thread sizes after all.
Anyhow, ordered a new drive shaft oil plug and gasket from Robinsons Foundry (they said the plug had been replaced with part no 09247-14036) which seems to have done the job.
