Hi, advice on anti ethanol additives please, smallkat recommends using one, which one is best. I always try to use e5 fuel. Thanks

The 650 that lives in France is left for months , sometimes a year without being run .
I drain the carbs and add fuel stabiliser that is meant for lawnmowers/ garden tools .
The fuel still smells like petrol after the inactivity .

I used to use Briggs and Stratton Fuelfit but moved to Sta-bil.
Sta-bil is a US product and gets really good reviews over there (states America's No 1 fuel treatment!) but not so many outlets over here, mainly Amazon and MotorGeeks. Look at the reviews on Amazon, 4.5 stars on just over 7700 reviews which really says it all!

I tend to use all year, not just for storage as I have quite a few bikes and some can go quite a while between use. 30ml does 9.5l of fuel.

Last time I bought some I arranged 3 of us locally who wanted some and bought the 3.7l version and shared it out. Having the 473ml bottle is handier for measuring out though - I just topped up an old one, but others use a syringe.

Both work well

I am using Star*Tron. About £15 delivered from ebay.

I use it all year too, as I am (luckily) in the same situation as UB.

Smallkat was a little reluctant to start after a couple of weeks unused, but did start and run fine eventually.

I have started using the Millers version mainly to keep the Speed Trip’s FI clean and hopefully reduce the ethanol/water expansion of the plastic tank. Been splashing some into the Kat fuel as well.

Does it work? Dunno. Certainly hasn’t made it ant worse though….

machine mart sell fuel additive too, or pretty much any garden centre (so you can put it in your petrol powered mowers saws strimmers etc over winter.)

Briggs and Stratton fuel fit here, never had any problems

Don't worry Smallkat, the 250 Kat is still running fine, had a trip around the block for fuel last week and it still feels amazing at higher revs, only problem i'm fighting at the moment is the ULEZ expansion out to Greater London, that Khant of a mayor is taking the piss trying to make me pay £12.50 everytime I want a ride out on the Kat, even my Kawasaki Kr-1 that I've owned for more than 33 years from new doesn't escape, I don't use the bikes that much so i'll just have to think of it as extra road tax, still don't know why a motorcycle is priced the same as a car, you would think that this prat would be encouraging two wheeled transport, it causes less congestion, but i'll make my journeys longer if I have to pay to get my moneys worth so i'll be causing more pollution each year than I do at present, madness! watch out anybody living near a city or large town, this is only going to get worse for all of us, rant over!
