Hi all. It's taken a while but got here in the end!?!

Ok I admit it, not one for the purists but couldn’t turn it down from a friend in need – a sorry and all too common tale of either, get it out of the house and sell it or let the Wife’s Solicitor snatch it, along with everything else he thought belonged to him.

Registered as overseas with a manufacture date of 1987, Kat 750 has been in the country since 1995. As the original bodywork was either missing or beyond repair, Kat 750 was rebuilt incorporating – wait for it – GPZ 750 tank, panels and tail.

Pal rebuilt whole bike with either new parts or existing parts stripped/polished/painted.

Though hardly original, it makes me smile every time and that can’t be a bad thing!

More like an ES with those rear peg hangers and ally spindle covers.

Yep it's a 750 ESD . Just shows though the Gpz bodywork looks pretty close to original.
Proper street fighter from the early days . Designed in the pub built in a shed!
To a high standard I might add.

Have always tried the positive approach that the SE3 front m/guard trumps the ES rear hangers/covers - but that's just me!
Had a look at my Chassis No. and have broken down the initial 5 digits which, I believe, covers EF, ES and Kat models - have now confirmed this is an '86 bike!
Is there anyway I can confirm model from FULL Chassis and/or engine number?

I suspect the chassis number is GR71D ......there is no real way of knowing anything from the chassis numbers as they weren't sent out in batches to any specific market . The engine number wasn't connected to the frame number in fact it is possible to have an engine from say a '85 bike in an ,86 frame because engine number are given from the January of the year built but t he frame from when it was produced. ( different factories.)
When you add this to the possibility that it may not be the original anyway....
The forks are ESD , but the guard is as you say SE. ( the Kat mounts are different.)

Engine no. the correct R703-118641
Original colour silver according to import date May '95 (KPH speedo)
Oh and managed to squeeze 140 tyre into rear instead of 120!
