GSX 650 1986
GSX 650 1986
Hi all, I am Rod from Surrey. I own a GSX 650 import, date of manufacture 1986. I have not ridden it for the past 2 years and am thinking about getting it back on the road. Unfortunately my knowledge of mechanics is extremely limited so any tips that you guys might have about how I should go about it would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks

Re: GSX 650 1986
You obviously mean GS 650 , perdantic I know but the GSX engine was never fitted to a Katana as it has to many valves per cylinder....different era engine! And by the way if you post a picture we can tell you the correct model and year ...the last GS650 was 1983! However dvla go off people's I put on the v55/5.
However the GS 650 is virtually indestructible.........
Drain off the fuel before you attempt to start it and use fresh petrol. The 10mm bolts under the float bowls drain the carbs . Set to prime stab the street a few times to the oil up . Job done.

Re: GSX 650 1986
Hi, thanks for your replies. Just looked at the V5 and it simply says Suzuki, it does not mention type/variant/version. DOOR in UK is 1996 and states manufactured 1986. No mention of the letter X anywhere, in fact the engine number starts GS no X, so you are probably right. At the moment the bike is still in storage but will take pic once she is out.

Hi, further examination reveals it to be a GS650G and not GSX. Just shows how much I know about bikes, I only know how to ride them!
