I’ve rolled up……

Post by tigcraft » Tue Oct 17, 2023 5:51 am

Hello all, I’m Eric from West Yorkshire with a few bikes (+1 like you do!!) Have a baby Katana project (250/4) that I’ve still not started as I’m always busy busy busy so this is one step closer to doing something on it. It’s currently in storage atm and has been for a long while as needs a lot of work and doesn’t run.

Hi Eric and welcome, there are lots of knowledgeable people on here, I've owned my 250/4 for over ten years now and its the most fun i've had riding a motorcycle, the engine screams like an f1 car and it always provokes interest wherever I park it up, most people didn't know that a 250 Katana existed! good luck with your project.

I think it’s actually around 8 years since I bought it and shelved it. I fell in love with the fact that it was such a small cute multi cylinder bike and added bonus of an original Katana look.
It’s come from DK and missing it’s igniter unit which I’ve a feeling it was pinched by DK, then sold back to me and guess what, non working! 🙄
Anyway that was then. The bike itself has had a hard life, bodywork is tired with damage and general corrosion on the rest of the bike. The rear frame or shall I say seat subframe ( if it had one) is twisted a little like it’s been thrown into the shipping container so I’ve a frame to rectify too. I did have a Katana ‘styled’ GSX250EZ new in 1982 when this styling started as it was the first of the Katana batches which I repainted new colour schemes on twice over the years I had it 🤣🤣🤣

Welcome to the Katana club, I have a 1000, 400 and a 250, latest addition is Katana styled XN85 Turbo. The 250 is a little screamer where the 400 is a more relaxed ride 😀
At Stafford show there was a 250 for sale, said he would take £3000, while looking at it, got talking to another 250 owner 👍

Unfortunately I missed the show this time around as I would have liked to chat to anyone else with one.

Cheers Smallkat, normally I get stick for putting photos up! got to admit that since I've owned it (over ten years) I've had so much fun riding it that I haven't taken many photos, here are the most recent, taken about a year ago, enjoy!

Tigcraft, if you zoom in on the photos you can get some close up detail, the bike is original apart from the Chinese rear shocks (that are actually very good) span adjustable levers (I realised why all the Japanese owned bikes had these, even with a Euopean hand it was a stretch to the clutch lever) and new bar end weights because the originals looked fugly! had the exhaust ceramic coated which has kept it looking like new for over eight years.

Not that clear on zooming but the thought is good.
