Hypocrite or coming over to the shiney side. 750 s3

Post by fossie » Tue May 03, 2011 12:24 am

Some of you remember 18 months ago my popup's balls dropped...........from the gearbox out put sprocket bearing all over the southhern part of A34

well while the engine is out I thought I'd touch up the frame with Nissan Metalic Gold. rattlecan. :)

But at the weekend this happened..................

To be honest the frame was a touch rusty in places so best do the best job eh?

So where do we recommend to get the frame down in the correct Gold,
I maybe can get it done in 2 pack.
How much are we looking at? :?

I would say it depends if you do the prep yourself or not.

To be honest as it is nearly strip down, I will finish myself if I was you and then etch primer, high build primer, top coat, and clear coat and you are done.

I would do in rattle can and you will safe a good bit of money. Otherwise I think £200 if it is strip and you want a top job.

I do a bit of resto on classic car, and I have seen panel coming back from the body shop with some serious problem on the paint.

So if I was you I will do it myself, it is easy enough a good money saving. :-)

You can't match it in powder coat, the only place i know of that does the correct gold is RS paints, they supply all three golds for the popup, yes frame is one gold, calipers another and casings another, they only do it in waterbased paint now so all parts will have to be laquered, some in satin laquer and some in gloss, RS supply ready mixed in tins or in quality spray can (not your halfords type crap), it's not particularly cheap, but it'll be right, and cheaper than paying someone else to do it. you'll need to phone them as they don't list all the popup paints on their website, they do do them though..

Will you lot stop taking perfectly good bikes apart just to bloody paint and clean 'em.
April to October is the middleage culling season When bikes tax and tested.,No motorcycles should become projects, They should be ridden, ridden ,parked up in areas so they can be seen to be ridden.
Holloween is the start of project season .

A Kat is for riding , not for cleaning.

oh how i love it here
pay the money fossie and have it blasted and coated

I dont understand why the gold powdercoat can't be matched, there are loads of powdercoat colours and they can be mixed ! If you find a busy powder coater he will probably have lots of colours and left over powders to mix up a batch of the correct gold.
