well as i was unwilling to spend any more of my life fucking about with the bandit carbs on the kat, i took the suggestion of chris and others on oldskool and invested in a set of mikuni rs38's, tested them for passing on the needle valves, and they were fine, so with some temp fuel lines rigged up, it firs straight up and revvs pretty well, much more instantly than with the cv's.

And don’t they look purty 8-)
You will have to be careful you don’t inadvertently suck small children and animals into the motor as you pass them mind you.
Just saying like

If the filters off your other carbs don't fit I have a set of K&Ns for RS38 that you could borrow if it helps

well, ive run out of time for this build, so im off to germany on thee beemer, carbs are on and it runs, but ive no mot on it and am unwilling to take a bike ive never ridden and hasnt been on the road since it was built on a first journey of over 1500 miles with no backup, so im going to leave it where it is till i return and catch up on the other household jobs ive been missing out on the week or two. had i another week, id have been fine, but its just too close to risk an unproven bike.
so, still on the to do list, new cables, the ones on it are pretty worn and frayed and im sure that at some time soon one of them will snap, one or two little electrical jobs like an accessory socket for powering stuff and charging phones and sat navs, underguard required to shield the air filters from all the water and shit sprayed by the back wheel. then mot and tax required. and thats pretty much it, it really was that close.

Very nice John, lm loving the stealthy black colour scheme, the forks and downpipes set it off a treat. How about the standard Suzuki font lettering on the tank only in gold?

ok, helecoil kit came today, and i managed on the second attempt to get the thing in and seated right, chain adjusted and now tight. took it for a spin, still need to sort something with the fuel tap, but on prime it runs ok. it feels like im putting a lot of weight on the front, but thats probably because im used to the beemer which is as laid back as a cruiser. anyhow, its properly properly quick, stupidly fast. speedo doesnt work, brakes are eyeball burstingly powerful but feel a bit wooden, though again, im used to the beemer which still has the best brakes ive ever had not for the power but the feel, but that aside, its not too bad. i still need the sat nav fitting mainly to give me an accurate speed reading because the speedo isnt playing ball and im ot about to take the loom apart to find out why. suspension if firm but i quite like it because im a bit of a lard arse so its nice to have something thats not too squishy, and im sure it will be better as the speed rises. need to get it in for an mot test as soon as i can, probably saturday morning, and the put a few miles on it to check that everything still works.
