Today I noticed a pool of oil at the front of the bench Tinykat is on. The right hand fork seal has gone. Having a good look at the legs, my feeling that I just might get away with it is wrong. Another set of forks to strip and re-chrome.
Next week it's going for its valves to be done, then I'll take the forks out.
Is there a procedure for removing the front bodywork?

The front body work is very simple , the 2 screws along the side under the 1/4 panels that just pop off and the 10mm bolt in front of the clocks , do that last and it slides off forward.

I did forget to mention if you have fitted genuine indicators yet they need unbolt ing from the bracket inside the fairing first......if it still has the flush fitting aftermarket ones life is so much easier, after sliding off fairing just unclipped wiring joins.

It still has the flush indicators. I'm leaving those on, along with the short stem rear ones. Smallkat will have genuine indicators.

Fossie, do the screen mounts have to come off?

Secondly, for anyone who has a 250, the intake rubber sealing O rings are now discontinued. These are the rubbers from the head to the carb. I am ordering some Viton O rings in the correct size. They will be about 60p each. If you want any, let me know by Friday.

No progress for a while as I have spent weeks trying to get back my GT200 X5 parts from the chrome plater I sent them to, along with £780. Eventually got my parts back after 2 trips to Birmingham (250 mile round trip each time) but the arse won't give me my money back even though he admits the job isn't finished. So it will probably be court action soon.
Anyway, I would not advise sending anything of yours to The Plating Group, UK Plating Services, Chrome Plating UK, Goldenlux or any company involving a man called Kristian Poliszczuk, without a long think and careful checking of online reviews. Definitely don't send him money up front and don't send money by bank transfer.

And my mechanic is still too busy to sort the valve clearances. It's been a very frustrating time.
My X7 frame came back from the powder coaters but the (now unobtainable) silentbloc bushes melted in his oven. "Oh yes, that happens sometimes" he said to me. Well, wtf didn't you advise me of this possibility first? I really am fed up of shit services. Even the expensive, meant to be the best ones are shit. I could of just sent it local and saved a fortune.

That is definitely not what you want to hear. What an arse! In my experience most plating places are shady a/f, long (VERY LONG) waiting times and shoddy work when you finally receive your items. Sent some small parts out and the lead time is... 60 weeks.
It's faster to break than to repair.
