Weaver's 7/11

Post by weaver » Mon May 18, 2020 8:20 pm

Picked the Kat up today from Birmingham. It's the 7/11 that has been discussed in Ebay ads.The bike is basically sound but uncared for, very grimy. The engine swap has been done properly by the looks of it and the previous owner got me a letter from his local bike shop to say the bike has been inspected and the conversion has been done correctly and is roadworthy, will hopefully help with DVLA when I update the cc and engine number.
Took the bike round the block for a test ride and it pulls really well altho the guy selling it said the clutch does slip at high revs and supplied some heavy duty clutch springs, need to take it for a proper ride to see what its like.
Gave it a jet wash and a brush up and it looks better already. My plan for now is to service it and get it properly clean whilst attending to some of the cosmetics. It will probably get a full strip at some point for frame painting etc but my shed is now a gym due to Corona bloody virus so that will have to wait.
Always wanted a Kat and this was a fairly cheap way into it,I didn't pay the full asking price so compared to some of the prices on ebay I did ok altho I will need to spend a few bob to get it where I want it.
The first thing I need is a standard seat, has anyone got one for sale? it doesnt need to be perfect as I will get it recovered if required.

I think John Martin (FBJ on here) was given one for his Charity Katana project but it wasn't up to the standard he needs for that build so he might still have it for sale. You could ask him.

Well done for seeing the beauty beneath. Enjoy it before consigning it to the unforgiving God of projects.

As for the seat if FBJ dosen't have one you could get the foam rescuptured and recovered , it could be easier and cheaper than sourcing one .

I can see I am going to recoup a fair bit of cash when I sell the seat😊

Nice Kat, probably an SD from looking at the pegs/rear clip/wheels. I absolutely hate those Giuliari seats on almost every Suz
I've found you this extremely ugly but very cheap seat in Germany; Google translate will be your friend.. just don't try any sarcasm since.. wel... you're talking to a German :D https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anz ... 3-306-9299
It's faster to break than to repair.

Even cheap and ugly seats can be reworked though.
