Advice on parts needed

Post by Jonty » Thu Mar 09, 2023 2:01 pm

Getting carbs cleaned again, tappets done and forks serviced so looking for advice on what kit do I need to get for carbs on my 1000, is it just o rings or should I get jets or is there an overall kit and who does them!

Also are there kits for forks ie gaskets, seals, bearings, including for anti dive which I'm keeping in place at present.

Thanks in advance!

The anti dive seals are no longer available though Christian in German has had the o rings made , if yours are leaking .
All the seals , bushes Etc are still available, for the forks .

As for carbs try NRP in Manchester , Andy offers discount to Kat owners .

Cheers Fossie, trying local bike shop for carb cleaning (second time now),I just need to get carb kits for him, tappets done and new cam cover gasket. Just too much palaver to take carbs out and send them elsewhere.

I can get the anti dive o rings from fowlers, is that all thats needed, 2 per unit, no gasket?

I think I'll leave it to him to order all the fork stuff unless you can point me in direction of a kit?

The anti dive units have a seal under the inbanjo ..on the top there also seals for the Pistons that are the anti dive ...not sure what is actually available but Christian could source 1 particular set so got them made up ..
As for forks parts all still current available .

Got through to Andy at NRP, thank you for the pointer!

230 quid of carb bits on their way!

Re forks, I would rather get as much as I can myself as not convinced previous carb clean actually took the carbs apart at all....

If you didn't, it's worth getting the petrol tap diaphragm and O ring as well from NRP - as you know modern fuel eats those bits and if it fails that is possibly fuel into the cylinders / engine.

This is the anti-dive disassembly:
AntiDive---Disassembly.png
It's the square section O ring that is the issue with leakage ( #5 in image 4 ) which leaks out of hole #1 in image 1. I haven't found anyone selling an O ring like that. The others are easy to get as standard O rings.

Both of my 1100 had at least 1 leaky anti-dive. The one I sold last year was just one side and I put a NOS one on that before selling.

The one I kept, already had them disabled by the actuator being removed and a blanking plate fitted, but it still leaked!

Some have replaced with these:

I tried to get some though and the company never responded ( 3 times! ) but luckily Kryten had some he never used so I bought those :D

How about cutting a piece from nitrile rubber tube. This place has 14mm OD x 10mm ID.
