How hard can it be?

Post by Jonty » Wed Mar 22, 2023 2:50 pm

Carb bits not arrived.
Generator and regulator rectifier didnt get despatched so not arrived.
Cam cover gasket I bought back at Christmas is for 1100 not 1000

So, if anyone wants an 1100 cam cover gasket........

Hi Jonty

Re the cam cover gasket. Here’s a Cometic gasket from Nick Pepper’s Suzuki Performance emporium….

This is for the earlier 20 bolt cover

This is the later 24 bolt cover

I have used these as well, but they only show 24 bolt gaskets at t he moment.

Cheers Jim, I called Cometic today at 14:00 got phone message saying office was open 9-5 Mon - Thurs and was now closed (at 14:00 on a Wednesday) :(

Garage has ordered a new gasket for me, but whole thing with suppliers has been very frustrating.

It's difficult to find good parts suppliers as there is no money in it. You have to specialise to have the knowledge, but then that reduces your customer base.

Sometimes I get customers ordering a part that looks wrong, based on the rest of the parts in their order. I check with them, but most other places, either won't have spotted it, or can't be bothered.

From customer standpoint wasn't easy experience, but understand that often these are small operations and they dont have capacity to man phone lines etc.
