Start from cold...

Post by callyboy » Fri Jan 13, 2012 2:46 pm

....why is it that my "cough" Impulse only starts on a couple of cylinders from cold. It starts ok on 2 and after a while the other 2 seem to cut in ok. Just wondering if any one had any idea why it wont fire up on all 4 straight away.

Also mine seems to be the same as the Kat 400 in that it doesnt like the throttle touched when cold either.

Thanks awfully

Pete

Well you never go anywhere on it anyway....................so why are you bothered!

You dont say what cylinders are not firing , but it could be a blocked choke passage way in the carbs. ;)

Mine was the same Pete but I fully stripped the carbs down to clean and the emulsion tubes were blocked now running sweet. It doesn't help running cone filters though

if it were being regularly used and run to temp then you wouldnt have a prob, but firing it up in the shed and revving it on the stand isnt going to get it warm or clear it out. my 400 would do that if it had been stood a few days, but if i used it every day it started on the p of pushing the button!

I took the 400 out for a spin on Saturday, but it had been left too long so it coughed a bit.
Today I drained the carbs, switched it to prime until some more fuel came out and then did the screws up.

Goes well now.
