650 inlet o-ring size and other questions...
anyone know the size of the o-rings behind the inlet stubs for the 650? should probably order a set from the bloke in the US that does the whole set but trying to work through non starting issues. was originally no spark at the plug, a new ignition box sorted that out... now it'll spin over but nowt fuel seems to getting into the cylinder and the plugs are dry.
the inlet stub rubbery bit seems to be coming away from the ali bit too close to the motor side... presume nothing to worry about until it gets worse?
air box side of things... few bits missing but working on the assumption that it'll at least start without the airbox attached and the choke on... albeit run rather badly.. lol
other thing is a lack of compression but i need to check the valves first before panicing about that... lol
anyone have any views or ideas on this?
cheers

Does it try at all to start Steve? cough and a splutter? If the plugs are dry then howabout the fueltap? is it a vacumn one? try sticking a small pot of petrol straight into the carb.

Re: 650 inlet o-ring size and other questions...
doesn't do a thing.... starter button no worky either but i can short out the terminals. couldn't see any other wiring involved so i figured it could been the solenoid as all the wires have continuety (sp) and voltage when needed. i'll try a length of cable straight to the coils/battery in case there's a load of resistance somewhere too...
plugs are bone dry.... and it was running off an external tank. free flowing tap
- bowls were full on all 4 but the colour of some of the fuel when i stripped them looked a little like piss when yer dehydrated.... too yellow for any good. i'll ultrasonic em and prod bits of wire down holes to see it it helps. it's fun getting the carbs out on these things with a std airbox on and the rubbers are hard... lol
cheers pete....

I stuck some new rings in mine when i did it. They were as flat as a pancake and needed doing. they get hard and brittle. Trying to remember where i got em. think it was robinsons.

yeah. just ordered some from robinsons. kinda need them and every time i look in the "generic" o-ring box it has every other size but the right one..... not sure how those boxes of o-rings are put together but i swear it's a case of sticking all the o-rings in that no-one ever needs/uses!.. lol
