Actually, I spoke too soon.....

The front mounts this time!

On ours, the right side has a stud coming out of the block, and the left side had a bolt. Guess what? That bolt has also gone walkies!

Would I be right in thinking that is 10x1.25 also?

Don't want to force the wrong bolt in!

I'll have a look on csnl.com and see if there is any info in the meantime.

Cheers,

J

Actually......

Looking at the diagrams on the Dutch site, the front engine mount shows a M10x200 bolt going through the crankcase from the LHS, with a nut on the RHS.

I'm confused here!

I'm just wondering if some bonehead has snapped the bolt off previously, and the stud sticking out the RHS is actually the remnants of the old bolt that is corrosion welded itself in, and they have tapped the LHS to accept a bolt.

Can anyone confirm it's a long bolt through the front?

Cheers,

J

I'll take some pics in a bit Fossie.....

I'm with you on this one, I suspect that it's been snapped off at some point due to corrosion/overtightning and the stud is actually the end of the bolt that is still in place, and to overcome the other side they have tapped it to accept a bolt.

Bet that's gonna be fun to get out.... NOT!!

Just had a closer look. Yep, it's buggered alright!

Some plank has gone and snapped the bolt off at the non threaded end, and then drilled it by a couple of inches. In fact, they haven't drilled dead centre down the bolt and left a small amount in. Then it looks like they have hammered a M10 bolt in and cut the thread in the soft ally.......

I've whumped it as much as i'm prepared to (for fear of breaking the crankcase), so tomorrow looks like it's going to be taken up with cook/chill/cook and the blow torch.

Why I didn't notice it with the engine out is anybody's guess!

Hardly the most perceptive son of a bitch, am I? lol

Harrumph!
