Got to believe in micacles...

Post by Pedda » Thu May 14, 2015 2:15 pm

Some of you know my wife Tanja's Kat. The one I took for WussyKat some years ago. We had that bike with us when we went to the Italian Dolomites two years ago. It appeared the bike showed a massive oil leak when getting hot, so we just took my Kat for the rest of the vacation. Trailered the bikes home, and as I couldn't be arsed to sort Tanja's Kat afterwards (she said she would rather pillion than ride by herself anyway), I just left the bike unattended for the rest of the year and last year, too.

Now - this month is TÜV-time for it. So I have to sort things before. Oil leak appeared to be a lose oil feed to the cam cover (B12 engine, you know...), easy fix with a new o-ring.
Battery was as dry as a bone - so got me a new one.
Then the moment I thought would be trouble: flooding the carbs for the first time in two years.
No fuel leaks!
Push the button.
Broaaaammmmmmm

Isn't that a miracle? 8-)

Just wanted to tell you before I go for a test ride now. Daughter #2 announced she wants to take the pillion.

Miracle #2.

Tüv sucks. Something like MOT, yes. But ten times stricter.

I think you are right. In case you stay in the EU-Zone.

They installed Tüv in Turkey and they aren't even close the EU. I heard that Tüv scrutineers in Turkey are likely being killed these days...

Yep Tuv is tough, mainly because all changes to your machine have to added to the log book and indeed only parts that have been accredited to fit that machine can be fitted.

So Harris mate , fairing NO, colours, NO, exhaust, NO. Lack of air box , NO. Number plate light rear reflectors NO . So after MOT your bike is legal. , but once the EU get their way ....your a crim!
