Re: Not so great news?
ive never seen a set of cams that are as worn as the ones paul brought round to mine, theres easily between .5 and .75mm of wear on every single plain bearing surface on both cams. its clearly not nipped up as the journals are super smooth polished, but ferking hell, they must have clattered round in the head like peas in a drum.

Right I’ve finally got my arse in gear and stripped all the valve gear off the duff cylinder head ready to transfer over to the new one. Some good news for a change is all the valves are good to re-use with no damage to the seats and none of them are bent! Loadsa carbon to clean off the back and stem area but a light grinding in and I should to be good to go. I’ve ran a tap down all the threaded holes on the new head and I’ve got a full set of stainless studs with brass nuts for the exhaust ports. Slowly slowly catchy monkey

Well I’ve been at it again today (ooer missus)
using my trusty bench mounted circular wire brush I’ve cleaned up all the carbon from the valves and I’ve even managed to lap four valves in. Hopefully a few nights should see all sixteen done then I can re-assemble the head ready to plonk it back on the motor.

Well more progress today, I’ve managed to finish lapping the rest of the valves in so I can finally get round to building the head up ready for the big re-assemble
I also managed to get Poppy the club pop up ready for her MOT at 11am tomorrow, fingers crossed my tame MOT tester finds nowt wrong

Oi I’m listening you know

Anyway I fixed the puncture, adjusted & lubed the chain, replaced the brake light bulb and polished her AGAIN

I’ll be returning Poppy to you after mines back on the road unless you want me too look after her? I’ve plenty of room here and I’m growing quite fond of the old girl

Lubed the chain? It's got a scottoiler.......did you adjust the chain while sat on it? If you set it as per the manual it will be too tight when wieght is applied ....it's a monoshock thing.

I got the next door neighbor to sit on the bike while I adjusted the chain (it was tight) and part of my pre MOT ritual is lubing the chain so it’s all nice & shiny and looks like it’s been cared for
