Valve seat inserts

No not for my Kat thankfully but I'm trying to sort a little 175 Honda engine out for a friend. The valve seats are truly fooked and need replacing, does anyone know if there is a company preferably in the NW who can help?

Now I understand that the proprietor is a little bit “Old School” so probably best not to upset him.

Chap at the NNMCC took his Guzzi Lemon Heads there to be reworked, and came away (eventually, Steve can talk the hind legs off a donkey!) suitably impressed.

But it does beg the question: Would you not be better looking for a replacement head? As new seats/valves/springs/guides/porting/skim/combustion chamber re-shaping will probably be more than the bike is worth

There used to be a place like that on Barker Street in Norwich, just down the way from Tinkler’s Motorcyles. It’s block of flats now.

Well my mate did but a replacement head in as new condition but unfortunately it was the wrong one! It turns out Honda made quite a few different variations of the 175 and the CL175 (high pipe street scrambler thingy) he's got was a US only model which seems to have been a halfway house between the CB160 and the 175 so not exactly a common bike.

I was told (maybe wrongly) from a pal over that way that Lancaster Engines was sold a few years back and not the same engineering standards of old??

the guy they rented a unit from went bust, and then there were the floods a few years back, so they moved to white lund industrial estate near morecambe, suitably high enough above sea level and away from the river lune flood plain!
