Re: removing snapped studs
If the stud has snapped flush I center punch dead center then use a center drill as a start. I’ve got a set of left handed drills which usually screw the snapped off stud out as it cuts. Getting the surrounding metal hot helps as your drilling.

Re: removing snapped studs
I make my own thread repair kits. If you’ve got enough meat around the damaged thread I use a home made insert. For an 8mm thread I get a 12mm bolt drilled & tapped 8mm on the lathe cut it off to the length needed. Then drill out the knackered thread 12mm tapping size and tap that 12mm. Screw the insert in with stud lock and voila a new thread. If you use a stainless bolt you ain’t gonna strip it in a hurry.
I’ve just rebuilt a little CL175 Honda engine which had a spark plug snapped off in the head! I drilled it out and made the insert up and saved him the expense of scrapping his cylinder head and trying to find another one which are as rare as hens teeth
