Because if one or more of the cylinders is not firing, or is being carried by the others ( if carbs are out of balance) then it will not get hot as quick as the ones doing the most work!

Pete never said that all pots were firing...........or not in so many words!

And with Pete it is best to get as much infomation before asuming the obvious!

I was actually shown to wet my fingers to see which cylinders are working when Training at Suzuki GB when I was a motorcycle mechanic working at a Suzuki franchised dealership!

I have many deplomas From Suzuki GB for numerous courses I attended in the 80s and 90s.

So wetting my fingers and touching the headers has always worked for me....and others I have seen doing it...........but like I say........

Ok, bobster! If you have as many diplomas as ever made by Suzuki Corp so just have a look at callyboy's post where he wrote that bike started at first press. If you can start a bike on 3 or even 2 cilinders at FIRST press so must be a Garry Gudini. As for wet fingers or water in spray bottle - I agree 100% but not in callyboy's case. Or at least he should provide more information.
