Skruffy Kat is slowly getting back together, and I have this question.
The original coils were non matched, and had very ropey connections.
So over the intervening months I have bought/acquired a set of new pattern coils,
a set of previously enjoyed Andrews Coils
And a set of Dyna coils
My original loom was Jolly Rogered due to some bodged repairs, and my replacment item has the spade connectors replaced with eyelets, So I opted to fit the Andrews coils. But these foul the frame.
Now the question is: As I'm using the stock CDI is there any benefit from messing about to get the andrews coils to fit, or should I remake the connections and fit the new pattern iterms?
The Dyna coils were intended for the next project.
A question of coils...

Re: A question of coils...
Andrews coils pump out 30kV,much more than the standard coils,so it's your call. As you say they're 'fatter' than standard (no comments please
) so you have to hang them a bit lower which isn't easy (or move them away all together). Use them with iridium plugs. However if your engine is bog stock you probably wont see much difference except a cleaner pickup and easier starting.

Hey Chris,
took myself off into a corner and gave my self a "don't be a wimp" conversation
Skruffy Kat now has a set of Andrews coils and Taylor leads fitted using SS mounting spacers, looks a good un!
Just hope they're not duff!
Also had an "Oooooh" moment: fitted a spare tank to check clearance of the coils........ (In Bob Harris voice*) Mmmmmm, Niiice!
