get it welded up pete, then get some tank sealer from frost's

What sort of money would a welder charge for that ? Would imagine its going to be a big patch.

Its right in the left corner where the bike was sitting for 8 years.

Looks like the spot is a bit awkward with those bends on a corner. I wonder if it would be worth getting the right gauge steel and shaping a replacement piece. You could practice on a thin bit of ally first maybe.

post it to me pete, i'll weld it for you and send it back. no charge, its a kat club membership thing! you will have to seal it afterwards though. dont use petseal though its not upto it!

not a probem, ive welded a fair few petrol tanks. i'll try not to damage the paint as much as possible, but i cant guarantee it will not scorch!
