My work van failed it's MOT & had to go to be repaired. Because I was out of the country when the tax expired I had to declare SORN on it with the intention of taxing it as soon as it passed the MOT & I was back in the country.
Today I have tried, unsuccessfully, to tax the van only to be told that there is a gap between the previous tax expiry & todays date! Seeing as the new tax disc starts from the 1st of the month, I can't see why there's a problem??
I have tried online, I have tried (twice) over the phone & I have even been to the Post Office but none will let me tax the van...DVLA rep I finally managed to speak to, told me..the Post Office will be able to tax it. The clerk in the Post office tried 3 times but each time the same message "there is a gap between the previous tax expiry & todays date".
So the upshot is, that because I wanted to do it by the book, not get fined for not taxing the vehicle I now CAN'T tax the van until Monday (possibly she said).
So the work that I have today can't be done because I need my van, which I can't drive, cos the bast*rds WON'T let me tax it!!!
I can't use the car as I don't have business insurance & knowing my luck I'd get caught AND done for driving without proper & valid insurance!!!
Try to do the right thing and get penalised for it...what's that saying?
"F*cked if you do f*cked if you don't!!!
Hopefully after 3 weeks away & now this, I'll still have them as a customer
