Happy days..

...are here again. :) My 550 has been running really crap and I have been trying to pin down why. Was really struggling on low throttle(surging) tickover (lumpy) and getting very hot. Thought my carb balance might have helped sort it, but it still wasnt running right.

As it wasnt raining today, decided to have another look. Maybe air leak or fuel starvation or coils or something. Did my usual poke around trying to look like i knew what i was doing. Couldnt find anything, so decided to whip out the plugs again and check em. Anyway, they were pretty sooty and after a clean up i was just going to put them back and then took another look at the gap. ...looked like a very small gap, so checked online and found out they were waayyyyy out :o :o - anyway, reset em and bunged em back in and............what a bloody difference. Very smooth on low throttle and tickover is 100% better.

Not sure what happened with the plug gap. Must have screwed up somewhere and set them wrong.

Anyway. Way happy.

Pete

Pete

Electrodes probably just decayed through wind erosion due to amount of time it just sits in garage :-)

Seriously though, good you got it sorted
