not good at all

hi all bike stoped last night with a flat battery got it home battery charging at 15.4 at tickover droping to 14.2 when reved am i right in thinking reg rec cooked god i hate electrics any other ideas

Hello Dave, that should still be fine, your systems only needs 12V to crank it over. Normally when the rg/rect goes it over charges by alot and takes all the acid from the battery. have you checked the battery fluid level? Was the battery deffinately flat? next time check to see if your lights come on.
What's it charging at with the lights on. I think the manual says it should be charging at 13.6 to 14.7V at 5000rpm with lights on, figures will be wrong. but I like your figures

well thats good news i allways thought anything over 14.5 at tickover was bad so cheers for that
