Oil change 1100 Kat

Post by PaulD » Wed Mar 14, 2018 7:35 pm

I’ve got differing information about how much oil the motor takes with an oil & filter change varying from 3.2ltr to 4.5ltr anyone know the correct amount including the top up after the initial start up?
There rubbish them Jap bikes lad they won't last five minutes! you want to get yourself a nice Royal Enfield!

On the casing it says 3200ml from memory. I just pour in Oil until it's at the F mark in the sight glass, start it up for a minute or 2, stop and leave for a minute or 2 and top back up to the F mark again. Start and stop again as before to check all OK. As I use from a 4 or 5l can there is always enough and some left over.

Thanks for that, the reason I’m asking what is a fairly stupid question is I’ve bought 4ltr of oil and before I started the job I wanted to know if that was enough including the post start up top up? I didn’t want to find out I didn’t have enough and was then unable to use the bike until I bought some more as my local bike shop doesn’t keep it in stock so I have to order it in advance!

Yeah, that will be enough. I don't think even with a new oil filter I have used 3200ml due to the fact not all the oil drains out.
