Zinc Plating / Yellow Passivate

Post by Uncle Bob » Fri Nov 15, 2019 6:05 pm

I'm doing up a Honda PC50 and I needed to get some parts Zinc plated. Normally in Norfolk anything like this is a send it away job with the risk of loss of parts. A quick Google though found a place about 15 miles from me in Beccles called Electroplate (UK) but there website made it look like they were really for commercial customers. I called them anyway and asked if they would do the parts for a motorbike and they said bring them down and we'll price up.

I'm refurbing some carbs that came from Spondon Chris I think, via JohnR so thought I would get the steel parts zinc plated with a yellow passivate at the same time. Took them in at around 2pm on a Thursday afternoon and they were ready by 10am the next day! £40 for everything. A result in my book! It was worth asking.

First time I have got things zinc plated and very happy!

As an aside (for Fossie) the PC50 number plate starts KMA so was originally from Manchester! Was last taxed in 1982.

A mate of mine got his Kat frame done that way. You can't tell the difference to nickel plating.
